Doi Wiang Pha National Park

Location
Doi Wiang Pha is under the preparation to be declared as a national park. It covers 583 square kilometres in Chai Prakarn and Fang district of Chiang Mai province and some area in Chiang Rai province.

Topography
Rugged mountain range lies north - south line that separates Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces. Doi Wiang Pha is the highest mountain of the range (1,834 metres). The mountain range comprises of fertile forests and headwaters of Mae Fang river. There are variety forests such as hill evergreen, drydioterocarp, mixed deciduous, pine forest.

Climate
The rainy season is from May to October with the heaviest rain in September. The best time to visit the park is the cool season from November to February. The summer is quite hot so it is not good time to visit.

Places to visit
Doi Wiang Pha view point is a good place to view landscape. It is 30 kilometres far from Doi Wiang Pha ranger station.
Doi Wiang Pha waterfall is a medium size waterfall that was born from Huay Mae Phale Lop. It is 8 kilometres from the ranger station.

Accommodations and facilities
For camping, visitors are advised to bring their own gear, tents and food.

How to get there
From Chiang Mai take the highway no.107 (Chiang Mai - Chai Prakarn district) till you get to Ban Mae Khi (125th km). Make right turn at 125th km. and keep driving for 10 kilometres to reach the park.
