The 231 square kilometers park covers the triple border junction of Mukdahan, Yasothon, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces in north-eastern Thailand. These forest area was used as a shelter for communist insurgents about three decades ago (1960's to early 1970's). Phu Kra Sah, with its 490 meters summit, is the park's highest point. The park contains several recreational spots for local people, patches of bare rocky floor, and dwarf dry dipterocarp woodlands.
